Brian Turns 8

Brian turned 8 on Friday. He came home feeling pretty yucky on Thursday after school. By Thursday night he was feeling worse, and we were sad that he might have that virus that had hit Chris, Abby, and Casey earlier in the week. Mostly we were sad that he'd miss school on his birthday, miss his birthday party, and be under the weather for his baptism on Saturday morning.

Grandma and Grandpa came over and we opened a few presents that night. Bri was tucked into a little sickbed on the frontroom couch, and you could see in his eyes that he didn't feel well. Still, it was nice to enjoy all the fun things...

Uncle Trent and Aunt Stephanie sent this hypnotic liquid timer. It went to school for show and tell the next day. Grandma and Grandpa supplied 3 great Lego sets for Bri to put together. I was impressed at how well he was able to put them together on his own. (Still, you can see in his little face that he doesn't feel tip-top.)

As an 8-year-old, Brian will be joining the Cub Scouts. Grandma and Grandpa gave him all the gear he'll be needing to get started... Shirt, hat, belt, book, neckerchief, and (of course) patches.

On Friday morning (Brian's birthday) he woke up early, seemed to be feeling okay. Nothing like sleeping for 14 hours to make one feel better. And, we had all been praying for the little guy to feel well enough for his big weekend.
So, in keeping with tradition, Brian got to choose his own breakfast cereal for his birthday. Trix, of course! :)
