Casey and Abby found some of the jewels in our berry patch yesterday... Considering that we've had one of the coolest summers on record so far this year, I was pleasantly surprised to see how many wild strawberries there were.
If you have never had the chance to taste a wild strawberry in Alaska before, here are some differences from the berries you'll find at the store: Wild strawberries are much smaller. They are somewhat soft when ripe, much less firm than common ones. They have tiny tiny tiny seeds. They are sugar-sweet and nearly melt in your mouth.
When you pick strawberries in the Midnight Sun, they are warm and delicious.
